Ravens Bakery & Speciality Cakes

Ravens Bakery & Café is situated amid a number of independent specialist shops in the high street, Ingatestone just 6 miles southwest of Chelmsford and 5 miles northwest of Billericay.

The owner of this family run bakery and café is a second generation baker who learnt the trade from her Father at a very early age, later completing her apprenticeship, both within her Fathers shop and at a local college. 

Ravens Bakery won the ‘Baker of the Year’ award 2008 in the Essex Chronicle Food and Drink Awards and it is quite easy to see why they were commended so…

All of the produce on sale is prepared and baked in house using the finest of natural ingredients sourced as locally as possible.  There is freshly baked bread from the popular low GI multiseed loaf to a wide choice of rolls; delicious melt in the mouth pastries from a selection of Danish to freshly baked croissants.  The multitude of cakes, buns, scones and slices will leave you deliberating … Should you go for an all indulgent doughnut, the fresh cream slice or a delightfully decorated cupcake?  My advice – buy a selection.

For something a little more substantial, the café and take-away service offer a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, toasties and Panini’s, as well as baked jacket potatoes and a soup of the day, or, if you prefer, you can just sit back with a good cup of tea or coffee, a toasted tea cake with creamy butter and watch the world go by.

However, the jewel in the crown of this award winning bakery has to be the speciality, handmade and decorated celebration cakes - they are simply outstanding.  The skill time and effort involved in creating these artistic sculptures of edible deliciousness is quite awe-inspiring, the results breathtaking. 

For Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings and well, any celebration really, you can order a cake - whether it be small and simple or large and elaborate - to be made to your own design or be given some helpful inspiration from the friendly and courteous staff.
