Cassidys Delicatessen

Cassidy’s Deli is situated in Great Dunmow High Street, north west Essex, on the A120 between Bishop's Stortford and Braintree.  This charming rural Town boasts a number of independent shops, restaurants and bars, as well as a number of local attractions.

The large Deli was established in April 2008 and offers an extensive selection of specialist and everyday goods; from fine oils, vinegars and dressings to various flours, beans, pulses and pasta, to superb cooking sauces, marinades and condiments, to a fantastic selection of coffee beans, ground coffee, specialist teas, biscuits and chocolate – lot’s of chocolate, in all it’s fabulous forms.

Moving begrudgingly away from the chocolate, what really stands out at Cassidy’s Deli is the excellent range of cheeses, goats milk products and the wide variety of freshly cooked, high quality produce that is on offer. The majority of the freshly made food is created and cooked on the premises by the owner Sarah, who trained at the renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School under the guidance of Darina Allen.

Sarah has become quite an expert at the art of bread making and bakes a variety of loaves to order, including, spelt, wholemeal, gluten free, and being of Irish origin, delicious soda bread, either plain, with currants, herbs, or even with chocolate.

As well as some excellent pies and pastries, home made delicious sweet or savoury tarts and a superb selection of cakes and slices, a daily choice of home made meals are available; utilising fresh, seasonal ingredients, a dash of hard work and nothing else.  You can pop in and pick up a portion for lunch, or go the whole hog and use the Deli’s ‘Fill Your Dish’ service; just bring one of your dishes into the Deli and have it filled with your choice of the healthy, hearty meals on offer, take it home and voila, you have a fast feast for 1, 2, 3, 4 or more - a great way to treat yourself to a night off, as well as diminishing the use of unnecessary packaging.

A catering service is also available for parties or functions.  The suggested Dinner Party sit down menus are available in the Deli and can be mixed and matched to suit your individual preferences, or larger buffet style dishes can be prepared to order.
