The Cherry Tree is and 18th Century Inn and modern restaurant based in the rural village of Stambridge, just 1 mile east of Rochford and 5 miles North of Southend Town Centre.

This delightful and popular pub restaurant has been owned and managed by the Oliver Family since the late 80’s, who have in that time attained and maintained an excellent reputation for high quality, reasonably priced straightforward food, real ales and wine.

The Cherry Tree really does offer the best of both worlds, contrasting the traditional with the modern.

Walking in you are welcomed into a warm, traditional Inn featuring a wooden beamed structure, a large bar, two open fires and comfortable, spaciously set out wooden tables where you can relax and enjoy a drink or meal at your leisure.  The bar area also incorporates a small private room (seats 6 - 8) where you can hold business lunches/meetings, private dining or just a get together.

To the left of the bar, the beautifully restored restaurant area offers an alternative dining environment which is modern, light and stylish.  The contemporary layout could give you the impression that you were miles outside of Stambridge, if not for the beautiful views through the large windows.

All of the delicious dishes served are carefully created in house using the best of seasonal ingredients that are sourced as locally as possible, including local hand made sausages from Barling and fresh fish and seafood from Leigh-on-Sea.

You can pop in for a light snack or lunch, from a traditional Ham and Cheese Ploughman’s – the ham being home cured on the bone and cut to order – to a hot Ciabatta with seared steak or char grilled fresh chicken.  For something more substantial the restaurant serves an excellent selection of straightforward dishes, including fresh fish, meat, game, pasta, noodles and salads.

The Cherry Tree is a fabulous setting for functions, large parties, corporate events and wedding receptions.  There is ample parking to the front, set menus can be created at your request and if you don’t want to drive home, why not book in for bed and breakfast; there are 4 stylish and comfortable double rooms on the grounds with excellent amenities.

Our Summary
A delightful and popular pub restaurant, contrasting a traditional Inn with a modern and vibrant restaurant area.  Separate bar and restaurant menus offer an excellent choice of freshly prepared straightforward dishes that are all created in house using quality ingredients sourced as locally as possible.  Children are made welcome with children’s food portions and high chairs available.  4 comfortable and stylish rooms are also available for bed and breakfast.

Very nice pub with a modern restaurant. The food is simple and well presented. Nice view over surrounding rural land. Good service and value for money.

Food is excellent , cannot be faulted. Relaxed, quiet atmosphere to eat and have a quiet drink, more of a restaurant than a pub. Friendly and exceptionally clean.
