The Starr Restaurant with rooms is situated in Great Dunmow, north west Essex; just under 6 miles east of Stansted airport, 11 miles south of Saffron Walden and 15 miles north of Chelmsford Town Centre.
The building dates back to the 15th century when it served as a coaching Inn. The attractive timber frames and low level upper floor stairway and hallway are reminiscent of its age and add a rich character to the building.
The main restaurant and conservatory dining areas are light, warm and elegantly stylish with subtle tones of Sudbury yellow and lush mulberry melding well with the warm, earthy tones of the traditional oak beamed structure. Although the décor of both of the dining areas is similar, they each have a rather distinctive feel. The main restaurant is intimate and cosy with a cottage like appeal, where as the conservatory is light, spacious and chic.
The kitchen is headed by Mark Pearson, an adept and imaginative chef whose dishes will tantalise your taste buds without confusing them; the creative combinations of quality, seasonal ingredients are carefully prepared and presented with aplomb.
The main luncheon and dinner menus change regularly to represent the best of seasonal produce available; incorporating enough variety to please the most particular of palettes. For a comforting and delicious repast, the supper menu that runs alongside the dinner menu, offers a small choice of dishes at a very reaonable set price.
If like me your dinner parties and dining out experiences take over a whole evening instead of just a couple of hours, you will be delighted by the additional seven course dining menu available at The Starr. This dining experience is something to savour and thoroughly relish at your leisure, and is designed to be taken by the whole table of two or more.
For private dining, celebrations and functions The Starr is beautifully equipped with two private rooms on the upper floor; each full of traditional character and very tastefully decorated. Both are available as a suite or separately.
You can be sure that you will be well catered for and looked after at The Starr; the friendly, professional and helpful service staff ensure that your visit will be a highly enjoyable and memorable occasion.
