Marco Polo Restaurant

9 Lower Southend Road - Wickford - Essex - SS11 8AB

Situated in a side road just off of Wickford high street, just a two minute walk from the main railway station, the spacious, light and attractive Marco Polo Indian Restaurant has built up a loyal customer base of those who appreciate fine Indian cuisine.

Since opening in 1996 glitzy stories have abound of the restaurants resident Bangladeshi head chefs curry creations being flown by helicopter to be enjoyed by major stars onboard private jets to their next show stop.

Fortunately the glitz and glamour of showbiz tales has now been left to their sister restaurant in Canary Wharf – a popular celeb haunt - leaving the Wickford based business to concentrate on what they do best ; excellent Indian cuisine, expertly prepared using quality fresh ingredients and served in house by their professional and courteous staff.

The extensive menu offers an excellent array of traditional favourites, chefs recommendations and a scattering of unusual dishes, a couple using recipes that are exclusive to the restaurant.

For those who know what they like and like what they know, the choices are sure to please, from a tender Lamb Dupiaza to a creamy Chicken Tikka Massala, to a spicy King Prawn Jalfrezi.

For the little more adventurous among us, try the chefs recommended Chicken Xacuti, a highly spiced curry dish prepared with ground coconut, or the delicious Karaki Lamb cooked to the chefs own recipe and reportedly flown out to Beverley Hills at the request of Playboy King, Hugh Hefner – well at least the man has good taste in something!

All of the dishes are expertly prepared in house to order, using fresh ingredients and authentic spice blends.  If you prefer a little more heat, or would like to omit a certain ingredient – just ask.

A take-away service is also available.

Our Summary
A large, light and spacious Indian Restaurant situated just off of Wickford High Street and just a quick stroll from the town main railway station.  An extensive menu offers the best of traditional favourites with a scattering of speciality dishes, a couple exclusive to the restaurant.  The dishes are expertly prepared using fresh ingredients and authentic spice blends – delicious.
